A fishbowl consists of two circles of chairs: the inner circle, where discussion takes place, and the outer circle, where people listen. The inner circle contains a maximum of five chairs, which are occupied alternately by participants from the outer circle. Participants in the inner circle can leave their chair at any time or be replaced by participants from the outer circle by tapping on their shoulder. This can also be done in a virtual setting, for example, by only the participants in the inner circle having their cameras and microphones on.
